Bill: Beschäftigungsgesetz 3622
Details
Submitted by[?]: Nationales Bürgerforum (NBF)
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: December 3622
Description[?]:
An Act to prohibit union shops and agency shops Herr Präsident, it is not right for unions to be able to bully workers at a certain workplace into joining that union or paying union fee. In this country, we value the right to freedom of association, and if the parties on the left oppose this measure, we can only conclude that they believe that workers, whose interests they claim to represent, are less worthy of that right, even though there is no reason cause to believe that that is so. Edith Strötzel MdR NBF Caucus Leader |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change Closed shops are places of employment where only members of a specific union are allowed to work; union shops can hire non-members, but these have to become members after a certain time; agency shops can hire non-members, who have to pay a fee to cover the unions costs. All three are erected by union agreements. (Only valid if unions are legal)
Old value:: Union shops and agency shops are legal, but closed shops are not.
Current: Only open shops are legal.
Proposed: Only open shops are legal.

Message | Herr Präsident, freedom of association does not mean the right to associate with anyone even if said person is unwilling to do so. If unions and employers aim to establish a business operating according to mutually agreed standards including membership of a specific union and adherence to its principles, then anyone applying for a job in that business will have to agree to the requirements connected to it. This is a fully market-compatible principle, and there is no reason to denounce it as somehow illiberal. Sepp Holzinger, MdR LVP-Mitrania Wirtschaftsminister |

Message | Herr Präsident, Neanderthal union-bashing like this is not worthy of the Reichstag. Max Siegel MdR Chairman of Solidarity Leader of the Opposition |

Message | Herr Präsident, Whatever the ehrw. member thinks about union-bashing, I would contend that worker-bashing, by those who are supposed to represent them, of all people, is more disgraceful by orders of magnitude. We should not allow unions to exclude people from employment at a certain place of employment. Edith Strötzel MdR NBF Caucus Leader |
