Bill: Auslandshilfegesetz 3622

Details

Submitted by[?]: Nationales Bürgerforum (NBF)

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: December 3622

Description[?]:

An Act to reduce foreign aid

Herr Präsident, Hulstria and Gao-Soto must act for its own interests first. The government of this country exists to serve the interests of the people of this country, not to be an international charity. There are plenty of those already.

MessageGicho-sama,

Has Strötzel-sama ever visited a genuinely poor country? We can run to our mountains if we want to, but there are other means of establishing trading rights than pursuing the downright immoral and knee-jerk nativist course of making poor nations dependent on us for their trade. It won't solve their problems and it won't solve ours.

MessageHerr Präsident,

we believe in the importance of trading rights, but these can be obtained through sensible diplomacy, which is also less morally questionable than the proposed policy. We would be willing to consider a reduction of foreign aid though.

MessageOOC: Correction: the foreign aid comment Holzinger made doesn't mean that the coalition considers cutting foreign aid. It's just a formal item on the LVP party programme

MessageHerr Präsident,

The NBF reveal their true colours. They are as disdainful of the needs of the exploited in Terra as they are of the exploited here. Cutting overseas aid is a remarkably short-sighted thing to do, as it will retard the long-term international economic and political stability.

MessageHerr Präsident, this government should serve the interests of Hulstria and Gao-Soto first. That is what it is here for. To those who for some reason believe that the interests of foreigners are more important than the interests of the ordinary Crownlanders whom we are pledged to serve, it is arguable that our current policy would actually do more to help foreign nations develop, given that aid has never brought a country into prosperity. If we are to give aid, we might as well do so in a constructive way instead of pouring it down a bottomless pit.
