Message | Mr. Speaker, Whilst I realise the leap in policy and the initial economic impact it will have, it is the belief of this party that the raising of wages to a living wage will increase the value, productivity and general contentment of the populace - it is them after all who we are sat in this plush congress to represent. I commend this bill to this house for scrutiny, discussion and debate - I trust our friends on the right will not keel over at the shock of increasing the wage of the common man. Message | Mr. Speaker, I shall be blunt about the issue. The minimum wage is called the "minimum wage" because it provides for only the bare minimum living conditions of a working person. It is a last resort for those who do not work towards finding a job, whether it be education or the actual search for one. Increasing the minimum wage only encourages people to not work hard. What point is there to working hard in school and at work if your neighbor, who played instead of studied and has slacked off as an adult, can make enough money to purchase items that would constitute "living" materials, such as a television and a car. People dislike the minimum wage because it isn't enough. That urges people to work hard and to do better. Unfortunately, the LFP believes that one's merits don't matter. Whether you work hard or not, you should be equal. This is what leads to low-growth and a form of communism. Congresswoman Cathy Adeline (U-Kurmal) Union Party Leader |

Message | Mr. Speaker, If I can tae a side point for a moment - what exactly do the UCP and the Union Party disagree on? If the answer is nothing then perhaps they should formally merge as one party. For goodness sake they are exhausting in their inability to propose legislation and instead sit together and criticise any bill put forward. Congresswoman Louise Badara (LFP - Sildar) |

Message | Mr. Speaker, If the honorable Congresswoman is suggesting that political parties should propose legislation simply in spite, then perhaps she should cast off her party's rhetoric of anti-government and accept the fact that the LFP is doing all in their power to enlarge bureaurcracy. The Union Party is focusing on listening to our constituents and working with local governments. The states handle most of the services, while the federal government focuses on national issues. I hope those on the opposite aisle will understand that. Congresswoman Cathy Adeline (U-Kurmal) Union Party Leader |
