Bill: Withdrawal from the Embargo on Solentia Treaty

Details

Submitted by[?]: Conservative Monarchist Alliance

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill proposes the withdrawal from a treaty. It will require half of the legislature to vote in favor[?]. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: July 3730

Description[?]:

Mr. Speaker,

With the demise of the Liberal Party in Solentia, this Treaty is now effectively defunct. We might as well withdraw from this Treaty. Doing so may even mark a small improvement in our relations with Solentia.

MessageNo, Mr. Speaker.

The treaty isn't defunct. It is in place so that we wouldn't have to make a new one as soon as the Liberal Party pops up again. We were once told that they were gone, and they were gone, but then they re-emerged. Luckily we hadn't withdrawn from the treaty.

The treaty doesn't say that "The Liberal Party is in power and we hereby embargo Solentia" - the treaty says that we will cut all ties with Solentia if the party is in power. The "if" there is very crucial, as the treaty can never be defunct. Right now, the Liberal Party isn't in power, so we may have ties with Solentia. The treaty should remained signed so that we may cut ties with Solentia if the party returns to power. We wouldnt' want to have to make a new one every time they disappeared and returned to power, as they have done twice since the treaty was signed.

Additionally, Mr. Speaker, I want to call on fellow MPs to read carefully, and link this to another proposal by the CMA: http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=417595 | This treaty about Solentia has made reference to the war in Gaduridos. In the past, the Alliance of Terran Republics (ATR) and the International Monarchist League (IML) had been extreme enemies, however they had one thing in common: they disliked the Adamsonite regime in Gaduridos. No-one in the world opposed the invasion of Gaduridos at the time it was occurring. The Solentians complained about the invasion after it already happened, and they were the only ones to complain. Read the treaty carefully and note that it mentions their condemnation of that invasion. The CMA wants us to sign this because they want to install a similar monarchy in Lodamun. They will lie and deny it now, but we all know that they want to.

They are proposing that we get rid of 2 treaties because those 2 treaties set legal precedence for Lodamun's opposition to despotism and overpowered absolute monarchy. When the legal precedence is removed, they will have a stronger case for monarchy in Lodamun. We must keep these treaties to protect Lodamun from monarchist forces that are gaining ground on Lodamese soil.

MessageMr. Speaker,

The Liberal Party closed down decades ago. If a Liberal Party was to pop up again, it would be with different members and different leaders. In effect, it would be a new party. The GNRG position is paranoid and irrational. Why are they so scared of a foreign political party from another continent that doesn't even exist?

MessageMr. Speaker,

The CMA is trying to distract us from the real reason they want us to withdraw from the treaty.
