Bill: Repeal of Immunity - CMA MPs - 3759

Details

Submitted by[?]: Great National Republican Guard

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: September 3759

Description[?]:

MPs from the CMA have threatened to break the law intentionally, banking on their parliamentary privelege to protect them as they influence average civilians to face charges for breaking the law. If they truly represent the people, they should face charges with them.

Evidence: http://forum.particracy.net/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=57&p=78860#p78860

Our law says that an MP's parliamentary privelege may be overruled by a majority vote in the Presidium. Upon passage of this bill, MPs from the CMA will not have the privilege of immunity for the rest of the legislative term. After the next election, their privilege of immunity will be restored.

MessageMr. Speaker,

We know what the consequences will be if this motion passes, but that will not affect our campaign of peaceful protest against the unjust laws forced upon us. This is the party of Walter the Martyr. We will not be bullied.

MessageMr. Speaker,

Was Walter the first party leader? And, if not, who was the Hosian we executed? I can't seem to keep track.

MessageMr. Speaker,

Also, to the GNRG, could you please send us the immunity information? I am unaware of the specifics. Surely this type of thing would need 2/3 majority? It's a repeal of that which the Presidium is granted, which aught to be treated on the level of the constitution. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

MessageMr. Speaker,

Yes, Walter was the first party leader but that is irrelevant to this case. He was not a Member of the Presidium. He broke the law and was executed before the CMA got any seats.

The law simply states that "Members of the national legislative body are exempted from any civil or criminal liability fot their speech or actions, but this immunity can be overruled by a vote in the nation's legislative body" therefore the immunity may be overruled once the bill passes. A supermajority is not required.

MessageOOC: Yeah, I agree with Siggon that this isn't a constitutional Bill requiring a 2/3rds majority. After all, changing the law on immunity for legislators does not require a 2/3rds majority.

IC:

Mr. Speaker,

I urge Members of the Presidium to take heed of the fact that not only is this Bill unfair because it criminalises legitimate peaceful protest against an unjust law, but it is also unfair because it removes immunity from prosecution from MPs of only ONE party. How blatantly partisan is that?
