Bill: Religion Reform Bill of 3762

Details

Submitted by[?]: Tomorrow Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: May 3764

Description[?]:

Mr. Neutras Consul,

This government believes blasphemy is a terrible act especially to all the religious members of Selucia. It should not matter whether it be said privately or publicly, all there needs to be is evidence to be apprehended from such a terrible act. Additionally, this government also believes that the remuneration of religion should be left to local governments because religions follow slightly different protocols in different regions in Selucia. and so local governments are more suitable to govern on this. It should also be a government priority because religion is very important to Selucia and our government should help.

MessageWe disagree with the bill, Mr. Consul. We believe this is an ever closer union of State and Religion, which is a very fearful prospect for it damages the integrity of the government as a secular institution devoid of any religious influence. We fear that "public blasphemy" being a criminal offence would apply to the irreligious and minority religions, and that they will have their rights taken away from the execution of such dubious policies. As for the renumeration of ministers of religion, this should not be left to the State to pay as not all taxpayers are of that same religion and this may result in the State influencing Religion, and vice-versa.

MessageMr. Neutras Consul,

This current government is not a "secular institution". The majority of Selucians are not secular and in fact religious. So why allow such a secular institution? Religion is in the fabric of our culture, something recognized by people all over Terra. With that gone, our culture would be weak.

This government is also unsure why public blasphemy would remove the rights of the irreligious and minority religions. How is it part of their normal doing by insulting sacred religious agenda?

This government accepts that not all tax payers are of the same religion but this government will not pay just one religion. This government is religious alike to the people of Selucia. Remuneration will not cause state or religion to influence more than it currently is Mr. Neutras Consul.
