MessageMr. Speaker,

The President of Lodamun already has a lot of power in the current system. Lodamun has an executive President. Nothing is more Presidential than a President with executive power. We don't see what this bill changes, regarding whether the system is Presidential or not.

MessageMr. Speaker,

The bill's description has been changed to mention "an elected presidential system" now, but the bill itself doesn't change how the President is elected.

We assume that the NCU's intention is to have the President being directly-elected, but that is stupid. We have 8 parties. Rutania only had 7 parties in their last election, and this was the result: http://classic.particracy.net/viewnews.php?newsid=442479 | No candidate received more than 50% of the votes. The top 2 candidates, combined, received less than 45% of the votes. They were the candidates featured in the run-off election. The eventual winning candidate was someone who got less than 27% of the votes in the first round. It simply makes no sense. Also, this President is allowed to remain in power until another general election, with the legislature being unable to replace him. We have seen, in Dranland, that this can cause a crisis. The parliament always elected a Prime Minister who couldn't get along with the President. In response, they decided to merge the positions so that they wouldn't act against each other; the result was that the directly-elected President was always unpopular and he couldn't get along with the parliament or get any cabinet proposals passed. Dranland had to hold several elections, one after the other, because the President and the parliament could not get along. It causes instability.

In Lodamun, our system is perfect. The President is elected by the Presidium, and the Presidium may replace him/her at any time. If the President loses support from the Presidium, the Presidium simply replaces him/her with someone they support more. We don't need to call 10 general elections or any madness like that, and we know that there won't be an unpopular President.

The NCU proposes this without providing a reason for MPs to vote in favour of it. They haven't explained why we should support this bill.

MessageMr. Speaker,

The NCU has abandoned it, temporarily. Instead of providing arguments in favour of this bill, they are too busy trying to get into the government.

MessageMr. Speaker,

What does this bill change? Let us assume it is intended to change how the President is elected, since it says something about "an elected presidential system" - why aren't any articles proposed to actually change how the President is elected? This bill won't change the fact that the President is elected by the Presidium. The President will still be elected by the Presidium, even if this bill passes.

"The President" - as head of state now - was a measure implemented by a referendum in 3538: http://classic.particracy.net/viewnews.php?newsid=394441 | When this bill is passed, it will simply change the President's title from "The President" to "President and Commander-in-Chief, The President" which is redundant and stupid. Of course we don't expect the NCU to know this, because they usually show a lack of knowledge of our law and how our laws work.

What you have here, Mr. Speaker, is a bill that won't change how the President is elected. Even if it did change how the President was elected, we would oppose it for the reasons I stated earlier.
