MessageWe are opposed to any private central bank. While we certainly wish to reform our current central bank we wish to make it more democratic and accountable to the public, not less.

Besides, we do support the existence of independent public banks and credit unions. Purely private banks might end up leaving consumers in poor conditions and contracts. Especially if there is increased consolidation of the banking system with fewer large banks. Private banks (as well as any private industries) only work well with competition. Too often we see consolidation of banks, meaning less competition and higher rates on loans for the people. A public bank is a great way to keep the rates relatively low, despite consolidation and lack of competition amongst private banks.
