Bill: Establishment of a Minimum Wage
Details
Submitted by[?]: Democratic Socialist Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: November 2168
Description[?]:
We feel that in line with the government's responsibility to protect the rights of workers, a national minimum wage should be established. A minimum wage will protect workers from exploitation, and reduce the number of people claiming benefits from the government. This wage will be pegged at 50% of the median hourly pay at the start of each tax year, and will be reviewed each year. |
Proposals
Article 1

Current: There shall be a minimum wage at a level considered a "living wage," well above the poverty line for a full time worker.

Message | Against. National minimum wages are bad. If there is no national minimum wage, the local gov'ts can better control their local economy. |

Message | Hmm, that's odd. Leave it in debate then. I'll propose in the forum that option when I am on the forums next. Mods sometimes listen to suggestions. |

Message | Well, I'm the largest party and you probably won't take any of my seats. Losing will just get my turnout larger and give me more seats. I don't care about losing because in the big picture it will allow me to repeal it in the future. |
