Message | What if the majority of companies pay very low wages because they realize it benefits them all to do so? If there was no need for minimum wage laws due to the free market assuring high wages then minimum wage laws wouldn't have been established in the first place. The reason we have them is precisely because companies do not (by and large) pay workers a decent wage. Though I do agree that paying your workers well improves productivity. Unfortunately some businesses can afford lower productivity due to their size (which allows them more flexibility in negotiations for raw materials and other things, so they can still charge lower prices for their products than their competition despite the lowered productivity). |
