Bill: Animal Protection Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Federal Green Party (FGP)

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: May 3832

Description[?]:

This proposal would make the following changes:

1. You would have to register your animals with the local government. This is to assure that potentially dangerous animals can be tracked more easily within a jurisdiction.

2. It would protect endangered animals. Having no regulations on their ownership is a great way to change their status from endangered to extinct.

3. Local governments would be able to regulate the trade and ownership of exotic animals. This is important so that we do not see an Ape scaling skyscrapers in a metropolitan area, for example. Local governments should be free to regulate such exotic animals based off of their unique situations.

Message"We'd consider articles one and three, but we don't like article 2. We think endangered animals should be taken care of by local governments."

MessageThat would be an improvement over how it is currently but it could still cause problems. If a local government decides not to protect them then we can see entire species go extinct. As a result this is a national concern, since the loss of species effects the ecosystem of the entire nation.
