Status[?]: passed

Voting deadline: November 3854
Description[?]:
(OOC: After-Compromise version of : http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=437887) Mr Spreker, Our party would like to increase the efficiency of Saridan's health system by altering the archaic law that forces people with painful diseases which cannot be cured to suffer while wasting taxpayers' money. Our party would like to legalize euthanasia in medically unsolvable situations. The patient should be able to request euthanasia with the consent of the treating doctor and three anesthesiologists from other hospitals who have to confirm that the case is helpless and that absolutely nothing can be done to save the patient from pain. Saridani hospitals cannot be required to torture their patients until their painful lives end. Senators who have never seen a patient who suffers in great pain when no way of curing him is known to humanity may not agree with me. I have seen at least three patients like this while working as an anesthesiologist in Pietersburg. Neverthelss, as long as pain can be prevented Euthanasia should be kept illegal and treated as murder in order to ensure the progress of medicine and preventing pointless deaths. This law is also the most popular across Terra with numerous nations worldwide confirming its' effectivity. We hope that the Federale Parlement will unanimously vote in favor of this bill, all senators that oppose this bill force suffering patients to experience a hell on earth. Klaus Van Der Linden, Saridani Liberal Front Chairman ---ADDED CLAUSE--- The patient can request euthanasia with the consent of the treating doctor and three anesthesiologists from other hospitals(to prevent corruption) who have to confirm that the case is helpless and that absolutely nothing can be done to save the patient from pain. |

Message | Mr Spreker, The Saridan Tomorrow Party will vote against this bill. It strictly goes against our conscience. Your bill claims that it has to be "unsolvable" but if anyone who has truly worked in the Health industry will realize how false the word "unsolvable" is. We have alternatives for these people in pain such as medical marijuana but this party will never support this as if a medical miracle was to happen (which it does) after the euthanasia, that death would be vain. We will not stand for that. We oppose the bill not because we support citizens encountering "hell on earth". We oppose because we value life and would never wish for citizens to die in vain. We also say that just because the other nations support it is not a reason to influence support. At one stage, most nations in Terra supported slavery. Is that ethical? Plus there are a few other nations that support it too. However, we still congratulate the SSLU for their hard effort in the bill. Lucius Satrii Minister of Social Services and Health |
