Bill: Abortion Reform Act of 3867

Details

Submitted by[?]: Saridani Liberal Front

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: October 3868

Description[?]:

Mr Spreker,

The current laws deny women's right to govern their own bodies, we want to legalize abortion in the first trimester as we fell that the current laws are outdated and opress women rights. Nevertheless, we want Saridan to keep its current stance on abortions performed after the first trimester(emergency only).

We would like to remind the Saridan Tommorow Party to vote in concordance with our key policy agreement.

Jonathan van Ooskamp
Minister of Health and Social Services of Saridan

MessageMr Spreker,

We support this bill because we believe in self government.

However, we find it laughable that the Tomorrow Party, which claims to be devoutly religious, would betray it's morals by supporting this as some sort of political deal. This shows that the party that accused us of being "corrupt" will truly betray it's religious constituents for political power.

MessageMr Spreker,

We believe this coalition will prove to be beneficial to Saridan and if that means taking costs, then so be it. By supporting this bill, it will mean that we will be able to stop gay adoption which we see as largely beneficial to Saridani society. Plus we were able to compromise on this bill with only the first trimester.

I think it's laughable that the PUAU are trying to lecture us on who we represent. You don't know our constituents as well as we do. Focus on your little minority of constituents who only remain to be 20% of the population. Our coalition represents more than 66% of Saridan. I also think we can agree that the PUAU are the most corrupt party in this chamber from their infamous supporting of the early election bill. That is the very definition of corruptness, Mr Spreker! No reason for an early election but just for political gain and then guess what! They got even less! [laughs]. We're not betraying our morals when we can rid gay adoption from Saridan. Go figure.

Just because the PUAU were rejected out of a coalition does not mean you should start attacking parties.

MessageMr Spreker,

When I was a young boy my mother would always tell me that all people are born equal. My mother wanted me to live a life free of racism and sexism. I always listened to her because I believed, and still do believe, that no race is inferior and that the sexes are inherently equal.

However, I think that I am going to call my mother tonight and ask her why she lied to me. Because if all people are born equal, how could YOU, Abraham Vienna, Mr Vice Kanselier, have ended up so stupid.[laughs] You have proved to this whole chamber time and time again that all men are not born equal, some are born irrational babbling fools like you, Vice Kanselier.[laughs from PUAU senators, jeers from tomorrow party senators.] Please let this comment end this argument Abraham, because I really doubt that any senator here could tolerate another second of your incoherent babbling, and moronic insults. Thank you, Mr Spreker, I think I have to go place that phone call now. [laughs]

MessageMr Spreker,

Sorry, I am a bit confused, how has equality got anything to do with the Saridan Liberal Front - Saridan Tomorrow Party coalition? or anything we have been talking about?

MessageMr Spreker,

It is not equality that I was speaking about. It was the stupidity and natural inferiority of the current Vice-Kanselier. I simply used the story of equality as a vehicle to advance my message.

MessageMr Spreker,

In my opinion Senator Van Cope got slightly off track with his statements, we are here to disscuss legalizing abortion in the first trimester, not to insult esteemed VK Vienna and call him inferior in any way. [some SLF senators laughed, but most of them somehow contained themselves]

Concerning our coallition, its purpose is to achieve economic growth and improve Saridan's international reputation. Civil Liberty reforms are just a small side addition that our parties try not to mention in order to maintain stability.

Leaving that topic behind. it seems that 3/4 of Saridani parties agree on this issue so far. I'm glad.

Random fact: In cases where a party has no seat, the default presumption should be that the party is able to contribute to debates in the legislature due to one of its members winning a seat at a by-election. However, players may collectively improvise arrangements of their own to provide a satisfying explanation for how parties with no seats in the legislature can speak and vote there.
