Bill: Cloning Regulation Act 2170
Details
Submitted by[?]: Democratic Socialist Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: August 2170
Description[?]:
This act will protect human life whilst allowing the furthering of science and medical research in particular by regulating research into human cloning.
Unregulated cloning puts human lives at risk as unscrupulous scientists who 'succeed' in their attempts may bring into the world children who are severely deformed and whos quality of life would be minimal. We must act to ensure that human cloning is performed only by reputable scientists, and that only when the technology is ready can we consider cloning techniques safe. |

From | Lord-General Drache Party | To | Debating the Cloning Regulation Act 2170 | Message | I'd prefer to have some regulation in cloning, such as not allowing self-aware clones. Harvesting them for organs is perfectly acceptable, but the last thing we need is a large number of ambulatory, sentient clones giving us a possible threat of population explosion, which is certaintly unneeded. |

From | Democratic Socialist Party | To | Debating the Cloning Regulation Act 2170 | Message | "Ah, so you want the government to control human lives? Quite Orwellian."
There is a difference between controlling the individual and protecting human rights. |

From | Democratic Liberal Party | To | Debating the Cloning Regulation Act 2170 | Message | We can completely see the benefits of this act.
Clonong is not something that should be prohibited, but it should certainly have a government eye on it, we therefore will vote for the bill. |

From | Independent Capitalist Party | To | Debating the Cloning Regulation Act 2170 | Message | If this passes, the ICP and HCP will, when regaining the majority for representing the majority opinion of Aloria, not only make cloning legal but also government funded. |

From | Independent Capitalist Party | To | Debating the Cloning Regulation Act 2170 | Message | Actually, it is possible. Representing the majority of opinions between two parties could possibly lead to a full majority between us.
(It would be government funding as temporary reparations for the periods of restriction the government imposed. :P) |
