Voting deadline: February 3922
Description[?]:
Thoouts Aksiomatikos, As you are all aware, a large gold reserve has been located north of Addis Amka. As this has become a divisive issue within the government, we've called this meeting to engage in a discussion on whether these materials should be mined at all, due to the potential enivronmental consequences, and if we do decide to approve mining operations, who the mining contract or land shall be sold to. I realize there is something of a conflict of interest here, seeing as the opposition will clearly advocate for allowing the Kobra Corporation to begin mining operations in the area, but this is not something we are opposed to on principle. I yield and welcome all to present their arguments. Jasmina Ateljević Vizier of Industry |

Message | Thoouts Aksiomatikos, Semayawi strongly objects the defamatory charge that the Vizier brings that we are somehow unable to be impartial on this. We call for the best company to be awarded the contract and land. Kobra Corporation is certainly the best mining company in Majatra... but we would never attempt to be biased in its favour. al lthat said, it is clearly in the interest of the grand restoration project that this economic gift form Boh be exploited and help overcome the hurdles of resettling the area as we will likely see some resistance towards moving to the new city due to safety concerns. Message | Thoouts Aksiomatikos, As a resident and representative of the greater Addis Amka area, I cannot disapprove of these mining operations any more strongly. Mining will create toxic dust clouds and potentially pollute our drinking water. The city will grow well enough if we give it time; I hate to contradict the Infrastructure ministry but the city's projected growth rate was optimistic to the point of delusion. We don't need to force the issue by starting a mining operation, and as the Semayawi spokesperson said, doing so may actually stunt the city's growth. Teriku Yebiyo KE Backbencher |

Message | Thoouts Aksiomatikos, I assure the chamber that the Environmental Ministry has investigated the potential environmental impact of the mines. We've found that with the right mining techniques, the effect on groundwater and air quality would be minimal in Addis Amka. Future citizens would have little to fear. However, the mining company would have to be willing to follow the environmental regulations to the letter to minimize the environmental impact, especially given the location's proximity to a major city. As for the areas directly adjacent to the mine, few currently live there and residents would be compensated if conditions require them to move. Radovan Loncar Vizier of the Environment |

Message | Thoouts Aksiomatikos, The Government must be strong in this and resist the baseless theories of environmental extremists who want to keep parts of Cobura poor. There are many jobs to be created and the tax revenue from that could be used for actual environmental protection programs not fantasies of 'high' young people. There are a number of excellent companies such as Kobra Corporation which would be very willing to invest in this. Such companies like Kobra Corporation would bring expertise and efficiency to this project. Mining is a large part of our domestic economy and the Government should keep encouraging its growth by collaborating with premier mining companies such as Kobra Corporation for example. If there are indeed any pollution issues, companies of longstanding repute such as Kobra Corporation would drawn into their long experience of dealing with such and have access to technology facilitating such, most evident at the Kobra Corporation mines in eastern Domale. Thus, the Government should go forward with this project and involve private sector giants such as Kobra Corporation in this and oppose any anti-development movements with their flimsy arguments.. Aese Theok Semawayi industry Spokesperson OOC: Just rambling and singing the Kobra Corp song haha. |

Message | (Looking somewhat bewildered) Uh, yes, duly noted, thank you. After an informal vote it appears the Assembly is overwhemingly in favor of beginning mining operations in the area. The government will now reach out to various mining companies, including Kobra Corp, in the hopes of negotiating a contract. Jasmina Ateljević Vizier of Industry |

Random fact: It is possible for a player to transfer ownership of a character or a royal house to another player. This should be done in a public way, such as on the Character Transfers thread, so that if a dispute arises in the future, Moderation can be pointed towards evidence of the transfer. |
