MessageWe have no system to fund the government. Tariffs are all that do it right now (which is actually all that funds a government if no national tax of some kind is in place), and I don't believe an Income Tax would suit our populations.

Thusly, we have the National Sales Tax. What it should be set at, however, we don't know, and are putting that part up for debate.

MessageIs this tax meant to provide all government revenue? If so, we would assume that a tax of at least %10 would be necessary. However, we would also like to see cost-recovery taxes applied in cases where appropriate in the case of social and communal externalities.

MessageFor the time being, it would provide a large chunk of the government revenue. Though, perhapes 10% is a bit to high. 7% seems more fitting.

MessageI'm not as well versed in European economics as I would like to be, but does 17.5% work well, or is there a big uproar about it?

MessageNope. A 17.5% means we don't have to have our income taxed as highly

MessageWe would propose that basic necessities should not be taxed (such as food and water). Of course, we may be in a minority on this issue.

Messagein the interest of fairness, as the FMP put it to us with my tobacco tax, all products would be taxed, from food, to water, to luxury cars and the like.

However, different tax values could be added to different products. For example, the base value would be 17.5% (for things like TVs, vacuums, furniture), but 15% for things like food and water, and then 20% for things likes cars, other big luxury items.
