Message | Nay, doing such things would just ruin a hundread years of progress. Al'badara has evolved beyond such backwards ways and become a grand republic. To return a hereditary head of state is counter-productive. |
Date | 09:04:33, January 17, 2006 CET | From | Majatran Caliphate Party | To | Debating the New Leader title |
Message | The Majatran Caliphate Party will not support this action for several reasons, despite wishing for the caliph to be a Majatran leader. First and foremost, we already recognize a caliph, Khali'afar. Secondly, we envision the Caliph as the political and religious leader of Majatra as a whole, or at least a large chunk of it, and not purely Al'Badara. However, we would support the reinstatement of a sultan, or other monarchial/hereditary leader. |

Message | OOC: It doesn't quite matter though, as I have 0 seats in the Majelis. |

Message | Our opinion on the question of the Caliph is the same as the new Majatran Caliphate party: the Caliph should rule more than just Al'Badara, but all the Islamic/Majatran world with the advice of his ulama. If the SDP wants to rename our head of government the Grand Vizier (and make all the ministers Viziers, presumably) then we would have no objection to that. |

Random fact: By default the head of government is the ultimate authority within a national government. In general terms, heads of government are expected to consult with cabinet colleagues (including those from other parties) before making significant decisions but they remain responsible for government action. |
