Bill: DISCUSSION: Lodamun's response to impending global war.

Details

Submitted by[?]: Court of Shades

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: February 4074

Description[?]:

I wish to open up a consultation with MPs from all political parties on both sides of the House.

It appears that global war is going to break out in Terra, including our continent of Seleya.

I would like to know what MPs would like Lodamun's response to be?

Minister of Defence

MessageMr. Speaker,

My party stands with Vanuku and Indrala, and insists that the Federal Republic does the same.

MessageMr. Speaker,

I should clarify by adding this: My party does not want Lodamun to get involved in the war, as we believe in neutrality, but we should stand by Vanuku and Indrala with words and non-military support.

MessageMr. Speaker,

we believe that the less we get involved in international conflicts, the better it is. Lodamun should prepare to protect its borders and its territory. If found really necessary, we could get involved in an international conflict, but my party would like to know if the military is ready to respond in an adequate manner.

MessageMr. Speaker,

we have had our issues with Kalistan in the past, some of them based on territorial claims. Without choosing sides in the conflict, I suggest we send some troops to secure our borders.
The primary objective is to guard the sovereignity of our nation. I suggest the Minister of Defence takes a decision on border control by the military. Obviously, we should not be provoking other nations.

MessageM. Speaker,

Lodamun will not participate in a war that does not concern us. Like the GNRG, I agree that neutrality is the best solution. However, the Government is prepared to offer non-military support to Vanuku and Indrala - our natural allies.

Securing our boarders is the very least we should do in this situation. I will be meeting with the Minister of Defense shortly to discuss this further.

MessageMr. Speaker,

The LSDP agrees that neutrality is the best course of action. We would ask that the Defense Minister consult with me on the level of aid we would be willing to provide if needed by our allies so I can inform them if need be.

MessageMr Speaker,

On matters of war, we are happy to fall inline with the Prime Minister and President's wishes.

However, the CoS's opinion is that we should assert our military might to influence the outcome of the war to our wishes.

First and foremost, we would prefer the Prime Minister and President to come to a agreed policy position, beyond our own parties views.

We hope all partys take part in this conversation so we can come up with a consensus view to see Lodamun through these difficult times.

MessageMr Speaker,

Could I please ask Mr Smith to clarify the LSDP's own views?

I don't quite understand how we could possibly remain neutral, while provide defence "aid" our "allies"?

How can we remain neutral while aiding allies using our defence force?

MessageMr. Speaker,

NWL agrees on one point with the Prime Minister. We should remain neutral. Eventhough we should be able to secure our borders without provoking other nations. We would like to consult the Minister of Defence to know whether or not we would be able to counter an attack on our territory. Therefore we might concentrate the main body or a part of our troops on central locations with good means of transportation or good road facilaties. We are certain that once this conflict escalates, also Lodamun will get involved, if we want to or not.

MessageMr Speaker,

I wish to answer the Prime Minister and Mr Lefebvre concerns about securing our borders.

Firstly, as reference our military structure was most recently updated as per this bill: http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=449321

As to whether this is enough to defend our borders depends quite significantly on which side of the war we choose to join.

Most of our borders our surrounded by neutral territory which needs little defending. However, our intelligence suggests that while Kalistan is officially neutral in the war, they are unofficially supporting Aldegar, and by extension opposing Vanuku and Indrala. This would put us at odds with Kalistan if we follow the GNRG's and LPA's suggestion of unofficially supporting Vanuku and Indrala. While it is likely that Kalistan will not directly enter combat with us, they may open their borders to Aldegar and their other allies, This is the biggest threat posed to Lodamun.

This creates a crossroads for us.

If we support Vanuku and Indrala, even indirectly, we open ourselves up to attack. The defence force is currently undergoing recon to determine whether we can hold off an attack. Since it is only one of our borders, I would hazard a guess and say yes, as we would only have to defend one of our many land borders. However, we would likely suffer significant losses without direct support from our allies.

If we remain completely neutral or even support the Kalistani side of the war, we would only a face attacks from sea. If we pushed the Provinces of Golavia, Andalay and Nostavan into completely supporting their respective navy's, we would likely be able to dominate any battles in our oceans.

In terms of our tactical position it is therefore clear we have two choices. Loyalty to our historic allies, or a superior tactical position. In this decision, I yield to the President and the Prime Minister.

I will provide updates to parliament as I receive more tactical information.

Harry Darren,
Minister of Defence

MessageMr. Speaker.

Our policy has always been to bulk up our military forces to protect the Lodamese sovereign republic under these circumstances. This would include terra wide deployment and skilled strategic special forces operatives to empliment Lodamese foreign affairs strategy. We would support involvement and would urge the military to strike our enemies and strike them hard. Our foreign affairs policy has always been a no nonsense strategy. We will not accept enemy forces to curse our land with their presence.

MessageI have been thinking on my response to this alot lately and I think I can finally respond to this with confidence and say the lodamun must be neutral in this war.

That we only take part if we must, as in defending lodamun. As you know, we are a suporter of a strong military, however we don't want the senseless dieing of our soliders over misguided imperialistic beliefs.

We have always wanted what is best for lodamun, and war is not something we need, nor should we ever seek it out, only if we are attacked should we go to war.

Now as far as the military, I encourage the facts that we need to strengthen it, protect our borders, and maybe even pay a little extra into it, out of taxes, while the war is in effect. We need our military in tip top shape, only the best can truly defend lodamun.

MessageMr. Speaker,

I support former President Lodamun in this matter. We should not go to war.
On the other hand I still believe we should protect ourselves an dbe prepared to any possible attack. The party and I will have discussions with the other parties on how we should achieve the best way to handle this matter. We are currently composig a new Cabinet in order to face this crisis, but I can promise all of you: every party will be heared in this matter. We must stand together!
