MessageMr. Speaker,

Our party ardently supports article 1 and has proposed it in other bills. We are however, adamantly opposed to articles 2 and 3 of this bill. Article 3 is especially dangerous as it undermines the standing of our country in the eyes of the international community.

MessageMr Speaker,

These people are prisoners of war. They do not deserve to be treated any better than those in our own prisons. These people would have been trying to kill our troops before being arrested.

As soon as a war sparks out we'll see who is willing to put our people before those of other countries.

The government is not there to hire people. This is the job of the military to decide who is able to serve this country not the rich of this country sitting slurping tea and eating crumets.

Thank you,
Jeb Coleman
Defence Candidate

MessageMr. Speaker,

As the sitting minister of Defence it is my duty to point out the flaws with the Shadow Minister's arguments.

1) If we abide by international law regarding the treatment of POW's then other countries are bound to do the same to our boys should they be taken prisoner.
2) We believe that all citizens have a duty to serve their country through the national service, whether a citizen choose military service or a civil position. Thus we must ensure that the military does not interfere with who can serve, especially based on religious or racial grounds. While we are a religious party, all people, be they Hosian, Selucian, Atheist or what have you, all can defend our nation's honor in the military.

I yield

Minister of Defence
