Bill: OOC/RP Karavshire 4051 National Convention

Details

Submitted by[?]: SLP-Libertarian Alliance

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: July 4086

Description[?]:

OOC: Moved it because the other bill is too large.
April 13th

The convention hall is two things her, enthusiastic and tense. The first ballot here comes down to the super-delegates. The SLP has 111 and their first vote could set up Hammond for an easy second ballot. The pledged delegate vote came out to a situation where no one can win even with all 111 super-delegates. Right now we have Sydney Bush, the last person to be nominated for president, giving a speech. She is just finishing up and then the party will do the first ballot. And it looks like the Super-delegate balloting has begun.

"Bailon's 16 Super-delegates vote as follows. 10 for Gov Carter, 6 for PM Stanley."
Well we have gains for both Carter and Stanley. Now, the only candidate that dropped out that said she will be in the balloting process is Stanley. The remainder want most of their delegates to go to other candidates.
"Iker Ado's 22 super delegates are used as follows, All 22 for PM Stanley"
Well the crowd is half cheering and half booing with some shouting "crook" from what we can hear.
"Negunia's 28 Super-delegates are used as follows, 17 for PM Stanley and 11 for Gov Carter"
"Iliathat's 15 super-delegates are used as follows, all 15 for Foreign Minister Harvey Hammond"
That got the crowd going right now. Some horns are playing music from the state. These delegates had pledged themselves to Hammond already so there is no surprise here.
"Parlos Decina casts all 30 super delegates for Gov Carter"

So that was ballot one and here is the delegate count.
Maj: 1181
Hammond: 1.004
Wilkins 689
Carter 531
Stanley 73
Fraizer 14
Pittman 23
Doyle 23
Tyler 18
O'Malley 3

MessageWhile the BLFP is not present at the convention, notable members, including both Prof. Geary and Sen. Rye, urge the SLP superdelegates to back Carter, claiming that Carter's relatively moderate positions would be the SLP's best candidate for cooperation outside the party.

MessageWe now have our second ballot results.
Hammond 1,046
Carter 317
Wilkins 944
Stanley 64

No candidate has a majority, but we do have a major tank for Carter and major gain for Wilkins. What happened is that both the entire Negunia delegation went for Sen WIlkins, and Hammond got the entire Iliathar delegation. Stanley did lose some delegates but gained in Iker Ado. There are going to be 2 more ballots in the afternoon and 2 in the evening, but Hammond is hoping to have it clinched on ballot 3.

MessageAlthough the BPDP does not have a say on this, we ask the Hammond superdelegates and the Carter superdelegates to have more common sense and choose Wilkins as their party leader to stop the rise of conservatism in the SLP and to give the party a more progressive voice.

MessageOOC: It seems like I need to clear this, but all the delegates are unbound.

After a large amount of negotiations, the third ballot ended inconclusively
Hammond 1066
Carter 376
Wilkins 929
Stanley 0
Carter managed to get all of Stanley's delegates while Wilkins had a slight drop in support. It looks like Carter's position as a compromise candidate is failing as all his delegates could put either Hammond or Wilkins into a majority.

MessageWhen asked about the SLP nominations going into their fourth round, the BLFP issued a statement urging that the SLP band together to stop Mr. Hammond, calling him "by far the largest threat to Beluzia and the political process".

MessageWe have gotten ballot 4's results
Hammond 1,127
Carter 306
Wilkins 914
Stanley 24
The campaign for delegates heats up as Hammond is 59 delegates away from clinching the nomination. Stanley has taken some delegates from Wilkins and Carter, refusing to give up while Hammond's main gains came from the Bailon delegation. He has been talking with a lot of pro-Carter delegates. Carter, in a speech to the convention floor, called for Stanley to drop out to ensure that the party nominates someone. Wilkins has been talking with the leader of the Bailon wing supporting Carter. If we go off of the last ballot, that would give him 121 delegates, not enough for a majority but it gets him close. Hammond is playing a longer game, trying to slowly pick off Carter delegates as Carter goes after the Stanley delegations.

MessageHammond has said that, at least when compared to other isolationist movements, his sounds "moderate in tone". In a speech to the floor, he called for is to "unify and take back Beluzia for Beluzians" to a chorus of cheers and boos. When Wilkins took the stage, the Negunia delegation and their horns started playing a famous waltz about Negunia. Wilkins and the entire delegation were in song, followed by chanting which the chair brought to an end. "Order! We will have order! I let you sing so don't call me the person to ruin your fun." All of this is on the lead up to ballot 5.

MessageBallot 5 Results Minor gains for Hammond and major Wilkins as the Carter convention battle collapses. Hammond is 44 delegates away from a majority.
Hammond 1,142
Carter 191
Wilkins 1,033
Stanley 0.
Stanley has decided to stop her fight while Carter has gone into damage control. Carter's campaign staff is desperately talking to the various delegations, with Carter himself making a plea to the Iliathar delegation. The iliathar delegation leadership has said that they "will continue to back our hometown leader. We feel that he can make this country great."

MessageIn response to the 5th round of voting, the BPDP has issued a statement, saying that all those disenfranchised with the conservatives in SLP were welcome in the BPDP and that they could change their voter registration to BPDP as to allow an influx in progressives to stop Ueli from winning other primaries.

MessageWe have a key race alert on the last ballot of this long day at the SLP convention. at 11pm, we can say that Harvey Hammond, despite all odds and several attacks, has clinched the SLP nomination with 1,191 delegates. 1,186 were needed to win. Here is the totals from ballot 6.
Hammond 1,191
Carter 139
Wilkins 1,045.
Hammond now has to go to July, fighting for an electoral win in July. He called this day a "win for Beluzians". He made his mission this campaign to "take our country back and make it stronger". He came on stage to cheers and balloons in the party colors as the song of his home city plays like it is midnight on New Years day. He also called this moment a "turning point in politics".
