Bill: Budget proposal of June 4053

Details

Submitted by[?]: Labour Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill proposes to change the allocation of funds in the budget. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline.

Voting deadline: February 4054

Description[?]:

With a sizable budget surplus, it's important that our government prioritizes expansion and investment in many areas. As such, we are proposing to spend another 27,000,000,000 BEL: 10bn BEL on infrastructure and transport, 5bn BEL on health and social services, education and culture and science and technology and 2bn BEL on trade and industry.

We would still retain a budget surplus.

MessageMadam Speaker,

The math certainly seems to work out, and if possible, lower-income taxes could be lowered a bit further (to 39.5% as opposed to 40%), to provide a slightly bigger tax break to lower-income earners, who could always use the relief.

MessageMadam Speaker,

We agree with the BLFP. The emphasis now should be on further curbing government spending and taxes, so much as we are reasonably able to do so.
