MessageThe KFPM generally supports nationalization of major industry, with private industry allowed alongside this. Consequently we are vehemently opposed to Articles 2,4 and 5. On Article 1, we are in agreement: a government monopoly on advertising is completely unfair and we would definitely support the ANP on this issue. Similarly, on Article 3, we would be willing to allow the floating of the national currency provided that the government's power to effectively intervene is guaranteed, particularly when the currency is unstable. Overall, though we cannot support the bill in its current form. If the ANP were to rewrite this bill and allow further debate, we may support them.

MessageWe would be willing to support Article 1 of the Act, if there was a provision that companies who mislead the public in any way with regard to their advertising, or manipulate the population in any way in their advertising, or who engage in any form of persuasion in their advertising, instead of simply informing, could be sanctioned by the state for using the public's airwaves to promote their private interest.

The goal is to keep the public and private sectors entirely separate, and the private sector's use of the public's airwaves should come with the highest degree of scrutiny. If the National Party could guarantee this, the SP could support this provision.

MessageOtherwise, we are also in vehement opposition to Articles 2, 4 and 5, and share some of the same concerns expressed by the FPM on the national currency.
