Message | Madam Speaker We need regulation to insure that companies don't abuse our citizens and destroy our country. We cannot accept the removal of all regulation in the banking and energy sectors. |

Message | Claire Murray of the NLP gives this statement on the proposed Economic Freedom Act now at vote: Though the New Liberal Party is a tireless advocate Economic Liberalism and the Free Market, and welcomes the proposal to cut Corporation Tax and to deregulate the energy sector - as moves we believe will increase competition, driving prices down and quality of service up - we cannot support this Bill as the result of Article 1. Though the economically sound proposals made in Articles 2 and 3 are commendable, the New Liberal Party cannot support abolition of our central bank. This would lose us too much control of our economic affairs, and may prevent us from appropriate action from being taken to avert a crisis, should the need arise. It would be irresponsible of the Senate to support this Bill. Claire Murray, Finance Spokesperson, New Liberal Party |

Message | Madam Speaker, It's of paramount importance that during any economic crisis our central bank is able to steady the ship: by privatizing our central bank, we cannot reassure people that their assets will be in safe hands. It is dangerous to assume that a privatized banking sector will do Beluzia more harm than good, and it is this government's priority to be doing a service to the Beluzian people. We would not be doing the people of Beluzia a favour by voting in favour of this legislation. As such, we simply cannot support these reckless measures. Finley Campbell Prime Minister |
