Bill: Reintegration Into The Artanian Union

Details

Submitted by[?]: Labour Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: August 4058

Description[?]:

Madam Speaker,

It is important that Beluzia faces all internal disputes now and addresses our relationship with other nations on the continent of Artania. It is of paramount importance that - in future - we do not face any disasters alone and without aid: we should not have to rely on negotiating leverage in order to receive aid, nor should we allow our neighbours on this continent to suffer alone.

The Artanian Union is still active, although Beluzia has not been a member for hundreds of years and rarely participates in continental affairs. The Artanian Union is at the forefront of global affairs and ensures that no member nation is left behind economically or in terms of defense. We must ensure a better life for our children and our grandchildren.

As such, New Labour proposes that the Federal Republic of Beluzia rejoins the Artanian Union.

We must be leaders on a global stage, and I sincerely believe that we are best placed to do this by joining the Artanian Union.

This resolution is not binding, although with the passage of this resolution we will immediately send a representative of the government to enter discussions with the Supreme Artanian Council with the intention to ultimately join the Artanian Union, with consent from this Senate.

Thank you Senators,

Bradley Harrison
Foreign Minister

OOC:
seems like a new way we can really get involved with rp on the continent and would certainly be an interesting experiment. to reiterate: this doesn't bind us to the AU, rather gives the government consent to send a representative to the AU to discuss terms. if all goes well i think it'd be a step up for us to join the AU.

MessageOOC: while i would actually support this, isolationism in the party would not. #Belexit anyone, no just me. Since there is no vote splitting to represent a revolt, which would be cool, it just comes down to isolationists hijacking the whip.

Madam Speaker

We, as a nation, cannot surrender our sovereignty to a union of bureaucrats halfway across the continent. Our people's sovereignty comes first.

Random fact: Particracy does not allow real-life brand names (eg. Coca Cola, McDonalds, Microsoft). However, in the case of military equipment brand names it is permitted to use simple number-letter combinations (eg. T-90 and F-22) borrowed from real life, and also simple generic names, like those of animals (eg. Leopard and Jaguar).
