Description[?]:
The Labour Party seeks to protect- through explicit legislation- the rights of all citizens to conscientiously object to the military actions in which the United Republic of Kalistan. It contains two articles: Article 1- Any citizen who objects to any military action committed by the government of the day for religious, ideological or any other reasons shall not be compelled to support the action by serving in the military. Article 2- Any citizen who objects to any military action committed by the government of the day for religious, ideological or any other reasons shall not be persecuted by the government or fellow citizens for this decision. Article 3- Any citizen who objects to any military action committed by the government of the day for religious, ideological or any other reasons shall not be compelled to have their tax spent on supporting the action in question. Any citizen may write to the government to officially express this position and the government should then reallocate their tax money to be spent on other services, with the shortfall being covered by those citizens who do not object. It should be noted that this will not affect the amount of tax paid by an individual, simply its distribution. This article would be automatically suspended if the ability to reach military funding goals is at risk and a subsequent policy review would begin. Protection for conscientious objectors is one of the hallmarks of a progressive, modern society and we wish to enshrine this protection in law. |

Message | This an excellent bill apart from article three, we shouldn't make this a pick and choose country and every citizen should pay for everything the government requires them to do so. For example, I don't believe in the NAA but does that mean I shouldn't pay tax to support it? Of course not. But apart from that this is an excellent bill and we would be happy to support it if article three is removed. |

Message | The reason we chose article three is because military action and policies like the NAA are different things. The way we see it, this a way in which those who do object can make their protests clear when they are not actually required to be conscripted: for example if we were to invade some faraway nation. To explain the policy a bit further, people would not pay less tax it's just that their funds would be allocated differently to give them some peace of mind. |

Message | True however what if everyone decided to want to have their taxes diverted to another area? This would be catastrophic for the military. Would article three be repealed if there was great numbers of people requesting this when the country was at war? |

Message | We had to carefully consider this when writing the bill and our view was the Article 3 would be automatically suspended if the military budget is at risk. If this was the case then it would be a clear sign that whatever military action the government has taken is severely disapproved of by the population and consequently would act as a trigger for the government to reconsider. |

Random fact: When it comes to creating a Cultural Protocol in a Culturally Open nation, players are not necessarily required to provide a plausible backstory for how the nation's cultural background developed. However, the provision of a plausible backstory may be a factor in whether Moderation approves the Cultural Protocol if players in surrounding nations question its appropriateness for their region of the game map. |
