Bill: CUP: Permission For a Referendum over Republic

Details

Submitted by[?]: Hutorian Peoples Front

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: June 4067

Description[?]:

We are requesting that the senate allows a referendum on the hutorian republic to take place.

A referendum should be held (at the next election) to allow the people to decide whether Hutori remains a republic or becomes a constitutional monarchy. This is a simple act of democracy to show the people that they really do have their say.

This referendum would work as follows:

• Each party will declare if it's Republican (R) or Monarchist (M)

• At the next election, the result for each party will be added to the campaign they have supported (R or M)

• the campaign with the most votes from the election will win and the result must be turned into law

**To allow the referendum to take place. More than half the senate must vote in favour**

OOC: a separate bill will be made for the referendum if the senate votes in favour

MessageMr speaker,

I am afraid to say that it is a fact that anyone who votes against this requested referendum is voting against democracy. Its not just about the result. I just want the people to knowing they have their say. We should allow a referendum because people need to be in control of their future. It's not for the politicians to decide this huge decision. Please allow democracy over policy!

As our party has at its core, a belief in political reform, we support this endeavour.
