Message | The NLP will oppose this appointment, despite many of our Senators voting for the winning candidate, as we do not believe this election to be valid. Dr Davidson only won the votes of 12.7% of Senators, 487 Senators did not vote at all. As such, we do not believe a quorum was reached, and deem this election invalid. To add to this, though the votes have already been cast and the result still stands, all NLP Senators are retrospectively withdrawing their support, meaning Dr Davidson now only holds the support of 7.2% of the Senate. It would be improper to support such an undemocratic appointment, we will stand against it. Sen. Graham Briant Chief Whip, New Liberal Party |

Message | There is no need for quorum to be reached. One party was late, others decided not to take part and some decided to abstain |

Message | Indeed, there is no constitutional need for a quorum, but we feel such an important post should not be awarded by but a fraction of the Senate. We believe this to be undemocratic. Sen. Graham Briant Chief Whip, New Liberal Party |
