| Due to extreordinary circumstances surrounding the military, the President of the Nation has declared a general State of Emergency throughout the nation. Martial Law is now in effect. The President, as Commander-in-Chief, has ordered all loyal military officers and units to report immediately to her. "During this difficult time, we ask all our soldiers to side with us, the elected government, and to stand behind their oath to protect not only our nation, but also our Democracy! I will not be afraid to squash this rebellion, for that is what it is. I believe that our soldiers are being mislead, lead astray. I will, therefore, issue a decree, a guarantee if you will. All soldiers not belonging to a unit loyal to the government, who surrender in the next 72 hours, shall not suffer any disciplinary actions. This applies to middle-level officers, who have themselves not been involved in the coup consiously." The two decrees have been issued under the signature of the President: One calling for a general state of emergency (Martial Law), and one granting amnesty to low and mid level soldiers and officers. These decrees may be annulled by a simple majority vote in the Legislature, but until then, they are binding. |
