MessageMembers of Congress,

I have been approached by Foreign Affairs Minister Kenrick Day from our neighbour the 2nd Great Democratic Republic of Lodamun.

He wishes to address Congress about our vote for Seat C on the security council. I am aware we have just voted to endorse Kalistan but believe it is only right and proper to hear from all nations who would speak to us on this matter.

Therefore I throw the floor open to Mr Day and ask him to address Congress. Afterwards, parties will be able to question him or talk about the security council and other matters of interest.

Thank you

Felix Farquharson, Foreign Secretary of Baltusia

MessageMost honourable Members of the Congress of Baltusia,

I thank you for this opportunity to address you.

Lodamun is disappointed that Baltusia has withdrawn from the race for Seat C, as Lodamun was prepared to switch its vote from Indrala to Baltusia, and to convince other nations to do the same. We made it very clear that we would either support Indrala or Baltusia, and as Indrala is not campaigning for Seat C, and as Baltusia is also an ally of Indrala and a friendly neighbour of Lodamun, we were prepared to support Baltusia.

While ending Baltusia's campaign for Seat C, Baltusia made the decision to endorse Kalistan. We believe this is dangerous, as Kalistan does not need extra votes, and the election is not a final one. Even if not winning the race for the first election, Baltusia could have convinced other nations to support it now and continue supporting it in the future. Once nations begin supporting Kalistan, it will be more difficult to get them to support another nation afterwards, and some nations will just apathetically allow their endorsement to remain the same throughout the years.

We have seen how Lodamun's refusal to support Kalistan for Seat C has led to Kalistan's bitter and outright hostile attitude towards Lodamun, including their withdrawal from the North Seleya Train Operating Company, which Lodamun and Baltusia are both a part of. Do not be surprised if they build friendships and alliances with other nations once they have Seat C, and then threaten these nations with sanctions, or at least withdrawal from beneficial deals, once these nations withdraw or change their support. While we have no intention of trying to stop Kalistan from winning Seat C, we think it is dangerous to have so many nations supporting them at once. Also, while Kalistan is almost bound to win Seat C, Baltusia had chances of winning Seat E.

We urge Baltusia to reconsider its decision to end its campaign for the Council. This is not so much a speech as it is an address, in that I do not come here to dictate anything to the representatives who sit in this Congress. I am here to plea, to beg, to hope. Whatever decision you take, I will respect, and I have no problem taking questions as this is your floor and not mine.

Thank you.

MessageThank you Mr Day,

Obviously there is a lot to digest there and we thank you for your support.
I am sure there will be questions, from the floor and we also invite Mr Ryan Gray, Head of our Vote Baltusia campaign, to question Minister Day over his claims.
