Bill: Freedom Front Tax Plan

Details

Submitted by[?]: Demokratikus Liberális Párt

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill proposes to change income taxes. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline.

Voting deadline: January 4111

Description[?]:

Mr Speaker,

With this we give all of our citizens keep more of their hard-earned income, and also fully liberate those with the lowest earnings from income tax. As we see it, a fair, flat income tax not bound by socialist notions of "equality" is a first step towards the abolition of the income tax.

MessageA regressive tax, even one that only affects the rich, is still a regressive tax.

MessageOOC: Is Income Tax proposal not supposed to be an exclusive prerogative of the Finance Minister?

IC: Mr Speaker,

As the gentleman says, this is still a regressive tax plan. On top of that, it significantly reduces our revenue and would necessitate a cut in spending which we are not prepared to make. This plan also means that those who take the most from the government in healthcare, education and welfare handouts would be giving absolutely nothing back. Mr Speaker, this plan is the definition of an abomination.

MessageMr. Speaker,

Though we agree with a flattax this would leave us with a 240 billion budget deficit.

MessageMr Speaker,

The taxation of the people who are among the greatest customers of government-subsidized welfare services would automatically solve itself had not the Labour party and their "Hosian" communist allies abolished the consumption tax which is mostly paid by precisely those people and also serves and environmentalist purpose - stimulating less consumerism.

MessageAlso.. the income tax is supposed to go along with our Budget Plan and will lead to a balanced budget. In the future when we reintroduce the sales tax on ordinary consumption we will push for eliminating income tax entirely.

MessageMr. Speaker,

As well as being regressive and unfair, this proposal would leave us with a massive budget deficit we could ill afford.
