Details
Submitted by[?]: Uniunea Hosia Democrată
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: February 4114
Description[?]:
Mr. Speaker, We understand law enforcement are interested in prosecuting the former leader of the Freedom Front, Csatár Attila, over drug trafficking allegations. This is obviously a sad day, but given the circumstances, I believe the right way to proceed now would be to lift Csatár Attila's parliamentary immunity, so he can be prosecuted just like any other citizen. Lucian Petrescu Chairman of the Hosian Democratic Union Minister of Justice OOC: See http://forum.particracy.net/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=243&p=106283#p106269 Bear in mind also our law on "Parliamentary privilege": "Members of the legislature are exempted from any civil or criminal liability for their speech or actions, but this immunity can be overruled by a vote in the nation's legislative body." |

Message | Mr. Speaker, The fact of the matter is that this man broke the law and he should face justice just like any other citizen would do. Why should he get away with a crime which others would go to prison for? If this is not voted for, public confidence in elected politicians will be damaged. It will look as though we are completely self-serving. Lucian Petrescu Chairman of the Hosian Democratic Union Minister of Justice |

Message | Mr Speaker, I want to pick up on the question 'Why should he get away with a crime which others would go to prison for?'. The real solution here is that we do not send others to prison for it! That's a win-win! Denis Tanase Internal Affairs Spokesperson Partidul Social Democrat |

Message | Mr. Speaker, Lets bear in mind that the former Freedom Front leader was not just buying or making drugs for his own personal use. That would still be serious, but there were much more serious aspects involved to this case. Let me quote what the prosecutor stated: "We suspect Mr. Csatár of using funds from his political activities to fund a smuggling ring, bringing in marijuana from the Dolgarian border. He cooperated with individuals inside the Rasezanaism movement which he seems to have lived among during the last year. He has also allegedly used public money intended for a foreign aid project to buy loads of candy and mixed the contents with narcotric substances including opium. The turning point of this investigation was actually when a 10-year old school boy came home talking about pink flying elephants after having bought Doglarian chocolate at a kiosk that had accidentally ended up there instead of in the hands of the smugglers." Message | Mr Speaker, The evidence would be compelling but that it was reported in 'Carpe Diem Press'. As we understand, this is controlled by the DLP and hence by their leader, who has been publically criticised by Attila (http://bit.ly/2e2DHF6). We cannot trust such a source to accurately report the prosecutor words and therefore stand by our initial position. Also, legalise it.
