Description[?]:

***THE CULTURE OF KALISTAN***

--CULTURAL DEMOGRAPHICS OF KALISTAN--

Kalistan is an ethnically diverse nation and may be thought of as being culturally similar to the US State of California, with a similar ethnic and linguistic division. Like California, Kalistan can be said to be a ‘melting pot’ of culture and ethnicity as a result of extended periods of open borders and willingness to accept refugees. This means it can be hard to identify discrete ethnicities.

Kalistani- 91% (modelled on Californian American; unique mixture of mainly French, Spanish, African, British, Dutch and Scandinavian influences. See "Kalistani Cultural Quantum" details further below)
Asli (Central African)- 4%
Gao-Showan (Chinese/Japanese)- 3%
Other- 2%

--KALISTANI CULTURAL QUANTUM--

‘Cultural Quantum’ is a term unique to Kalistan. Most citizens (91%) identify as ‘Kalistani’ but this is a complex and hard-to-define ethnicity. ‘Cultural Quantum’ is a way for social scientists, anthropologists and other academics to understand the influence of individual cultures relative to one another. For example, 22% of Kalistani culture can be identified as coming from the historic Asali population, 5% is from the Gao-Showans and so on. More information can be found here: http://bit.ly/KaliPeoples

-Pensios (Hispanic)- 23%
-Asali (French/ German/ Louisiana Creole)- 22%
-Asli (Central African)- 15%
-Enlians (British Isles)- 12%
-Dunlakaan (Dutch/Scandinavian)- 9%
-Gao-Showa (Chinese/Japanese)- 5%
-Kalkali (Hindustani)- 4%
-Vintalli (Greco-Latin)- 4%
-Delics (Russian/Slavic)- 3%
-Ezadi (Afghani)- 2%
-Other- 1%

--CHARACTER NAMING IN KALISTAN--

Most character names should come from the Kalistani group, meaning mainly French, Spanish, African, British, Dutch or Scandinavian names, or a combination of these. Although a minority of character names are welcome from Kalistan's Asli (Central African/Congolese) and Gao-Showan (Chinese/Japanese) minorities.

--LANGUAGE IN KALISTAN--

Party and organisation names, bill and role titles should be in English (Spanish can be accepted in rare circumstances but only if reasonable explanation can be provided as to why that is the case). Almost all Kalistani citizens are multi-lingual, below are listed the first, primary languages of the population.

•Kalistani Luthori (English)- 88%
--Vrassan (US dialect, British accent)-59%
--Odufar (British dialect, US accent)-41%
•Egelian (Spanish)- 11%
•Other- 1%
--Ananti (Punjabi)-67%
--Rajutti (Hindi)-24%
--Indralan (Chinese)-8%
--Other- 1%

Below are the percentage of the population speaking selected second languages. Egelian is common as a second language, particularly among young people and those involved with left-wing politics. Kalkali and Ezadi languages are residuals of Kalistan’s ancient history, while Bhagavathan is a classical language and its usage is usually limited to academics and religious scholars. Speakers of almost any language can be found somewhere in Kalistan, mostly because of migration.

•Egelian (Spanish)-47%
• Kalkali- 35%
--Ananti (Punjabi)- 35%
--Rajutti (Hindi)- 22%
--Zaqrami (Urdu)- 17%
--Rajavanshi (Gujrati)- 15%
--Khoni (Sindhi)- 8%
--Bhapori (Kashmiri)- 3%
•Indralan (Chinese)- 21%
•Ezadi- 16%
--Dudmani (Pashtun)- 75%
--Bihezi (Kurdish)- 22%
--Aldegarian (Persian)- 15%
• Panmuan (Mongolian)- 9%
•Bhagavathan (Sanskrit)- 6%
•Other- 5%

--RELIGIONS IN KALISTAN--

Just as in the case of ethnicity, Kalistan is very diverse in terms of religion. Most religions followed in Kalistan originate from within a Kalkali or Ezadi cultural milieu, and the largest one was born in Kalistan. The Society of Bretheren, also known as Brethrenism, is the dominanted religion in Kalistan, which holds claim to the highest percentage of praciticing Brethren anywhere in Terra.
