Bill: Organ Donation Opt-Out Bill
Details
Submitted by[?]: Ação Progressiva
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: June 4135
Description[?]:
The system of people opting-in to donate their organs is limiting the number of organ donations each year. People are much less likely to voluntarily opt-in. If we reform the system we can increase the number of organ donations while at the same time respecting the wishes of those who are passionately against passing on their organs. This bill will save countless numbers of lives each year. - Elisa Pereira Mata, Health and Social Services spokesperson |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change The government's policy concerning organ donations.
Old value:: Organ donations are legal with personal consent.
Current: Organ donations are legal with personal consent.
Proposed: Unless otherwise stated, consent is assumed.

Message | "While we do not agree with this bill, the assertion by the PNC that the AA should have lost 'any moral to speak about injustice' after putting forward this bill seems somewhat bizarre without any explanation. Does the PNC have any argument for their claim?" Raquel Duda Lobo, UDT spokesperson for Health, Social Services, Education, Culture, Science, Technology, the Environment and Tourism |
