MessageFriends and colleagues of this estimated House!

I'm here today to talk to you officially, as this great country's Minister of Education and Culture. This law speaks volumes to us of the PCP, not only because the current legislation was proposed by our party leader and founder, Dr. Douglas Coutinho, but also because Education is the driving force of our party. We appreciate all of our allies for listening and considering our official stance.

Ever since the new law passed, myself and an group of selected scholars of our party (including Dr. Coutinho himself) are working day and night to propose an fair, current and responsible National Curriculum. Dr. Coutinho and I had the chance to work with the professors of our great country, and the researchers of the area to produce an finalized effort that could be used by any school in Beluzia, helping to grow our literacy's rates and also making this country an better and more diverse one. That's the word that needs to be emphasized: diverse. Our curriculum has taken an great care to preserve local and cultural specificities, making the point that we all need to establish the common basics to what we teach in schools (and with this currently Curriculum, dare I say, the basic is pretty high), but there are some specificities that cannot be replicated and should not be eliminated. That's the only reason we didn't impose the National Curriculum. Its basic points are already being followed by our great schools, Dr. Coutinho and I are overseeing this to make sure it's done. But all of those cultural and local differences are still being respected, being developed and studied with the orientation of the local professors and scholars, counting with mine and Dr. Coutinho's supervision.

That's why we ask the parties to vote "no" to this bill. Our National Curriculum is already being followed by our schools. We don't need to force anyone to do it. The great work we're doing has already made our Curriculum - that took so much work by our best representatives in the Educational field - get the respect it deserves and the application it needs. Without any imposing.

Regards,
Dra. Flavia Sampaio
Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Beluzia (4135-4138)
