Bill: Contraception
Details
Submitted by[?]: Maroon Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: September 2059
Description[?]:
We feel that the government should not be encouraging sexual behavior, one way or the other. It's okay to teach people about contraception, and people should certainly be allowed to buy such devices on the private market, but the government should not supply them the way it would supply, say, a road. Contraception is a private good, with the benefits thereof enjoyed by the couple involved. As a private good, the private sector should be adequate in supplying it. |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change Government policy on subsidising contraception.
Old value:: The government subsidises a considerable discount for contraceptives.
Current: The government offers free contraceptives in pharmacies and public toilets.
Proposed: The government does not supply free or discounted contraceptives.

Message | Sex is healthy and makes people happy. If anything, the government should encourage it. For consenting adults, of course. |

Message | Sex is healthy and makes people happy, I agree. Because it is, people will do it themselves and don't need government encouragement. The government should encourage things that are beneficial to society but aren't necessarily pleasureful, because those are things people do not do on their own. |
