Description[?]:
Comrade Speaker of the National Assembly, Comrades of the Socialist Party, Members of the Government of Kalistan, and Deputies of the National Assembly, We rise today to propose a sea change to our Nation's foreign policy. When I began my career nearly more than sixty years ago in Kalistan, I fully supported our presence at the Security Council. My Party was among the chief cheerleaders of the Congress and the Council. In the intervening time, I have expatriated to Lourenne, served as the chief advisor to my Friend and Comrade, the Secretary General of Lourenne, and when she died, I returned to Kalistan. Since my return I have been given the honor of serving you one more time in the twilight of my life. I have come to the understanding, throughout my years that Kalistan's role as a regional power is where it is strongest. I would like to give one of our neighbors a chance to serve in the Security Council in our stead, and let Kalistan move out of the center stage. I would like for us to consider two questions, as a National Assembly: 1) Should Kalistan leave the Security Council behind. I have stated my preference, but the Foreign Minister has expressed that the Current Ambassador should keep their seat until the end of the term. 2) If we should leave the office, who should Kalistan support? Upon my return after my long absence, I don't think it is a shock that I am still catching up on Kalistani affairs, but it seems that we should support our allies. I would like all Parties' input on these questions before crafting a more complete bill. My thanks Louise Bjorksdattir Premier of the Republic |

Message | It has and remains the position of the Labour Party that continued Kalistani involvement in the Security Council is beneficial not only to Kalistan and Seleya as a whole but to Terra. In contrast to most nations on the Security Council, Kalistan consistently stands up for an unbiased and equal respect for sovereignty. We should not allow the most important international body to fall into the hands of what often seem like neo-colonialist nations. Obviously, this makes the second question irrelevant but I would like us to consider, while we are on the topic, who we vote for in Seats A, B and D. Our current nominations arose primarily due to (somewhat shady) political dealing. We should take a fresh and carefully considered approach to who we now endorse. I view Trigunia as worthy of endorsement in Seat D but in Seat A and B, I would like us to perhaps switch our votes. Stefaan Samuel Labour Party General Secretary |
