Bill: Resolution: Condemn Aldegar

Details

Submitted by[?]: Socialist Party of Kalistan (SPoK)

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: February 4181

Description[?]:

Resolved: The Government of Kalistan hereby condemns The Government of Aldegar for attempted bribery of an Official in the Public Trust of the People of Kalistan

The Finance Ministry received an signed cable from the Aldegar National Party which stated thusly (unredacted copies have been provided to all deputies as Exhibit 1)

"
From 🐘Aldegār Nationalist Party
To Socialist Party of Kalistan (SPoK)
Message IC: My party is contracting Ministry of Finance Harry Kool.

The Anti-IUPU Union wish to send your nation 2,000,000,000,000 KRB

All we ask in return is that you call upon the security Council to shut down the International Unity Party Union IUPU. The IUPU has attacked our people in Aldegar. This is very similar to the conflict back with the Aldegar - Valruzia tensions.

8,000 of our people have already died from their aggression on our nation. And they have blockaded our sea routes! We will even double the amount of money to give you if we must!"

To which we, as Socialists and Representatives of the National Assembly, responded directly:

"
Comrades,

We do not accept Bribes. The contents of this message will be brought before our National Government, and we will sponsor a resolution condemning your nation for attempting to bribe our Republican Officials.

Good Day"

We therefore call upon all members of the National Assembly to join us in officially condemning Aldegar for attempting to Bribe us, and further, to expel any representatives of the Aldegarian Government found in Kalistan.

MessageComrades:

We, too, received this message. It was improperly sent and I recommended they talk to our Foreign Minister. I had never even considered it being bribery. Let us not accept money like this. We act of our own accord and in international matters, we decide based on principal, not profit.

MessageLike others, our party was contacted. However, given that the party holds no power in Aldegar, we feel it would be unfair to punish the entire nation.

MessageWe find it absolutely appalling that colleagues wish to punish an entire nation for the actions of a party who has never even received a democratic mandate in an Aldegarian nation. I urge caution.

MessageMr. Speaker,

I share the concerns echoed by the previous speaker. We should not condemn the government of Aldegar for the actions of an unelected politician who has no connection to the government of Aldegar.

However, we would be prepared to compromise and support a separate motion condemning the individual/party who attempted the bribery.

MessageWe have voted and have officially condemned Aldegar. The matter is resolved- We would, however, like to point out that this is an official diplomatic statement, and the only action prescribed is that diplomatic officials who are representatives of the Government (not the "people" of Aldegar) have been expelled.

This act does nothing to the People of Kalistan. We certainly aimed it specifically at a government which failed to prevent its minority Parties from attempting to bribe a sovereign power into joining some internal conflict somewhere else.

We encourage those who spoke about against the Bill to acknowledge its passage, whatever their objections, and we direct the Foreign Ministry to carry out the prescriptions of this bill post haste.

MessageThank you, Comrade Minister. We would entertain and support any reasonable proposal to lift all sanctions on the Nation of Aldegar now that this resolution has passed and its terms have been carried out, but the SP will not offer it.
