Bill: Sports Clubs Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Liberal Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: February 4180

Description[?]:

Local councils should be free to set up sports clubs, but in general terms, this is not a sector of the economy which needs to be completely nationalised, 100% under government control. Why not allow private sports clubs?

MessagePrivatization will lead to out-of-control player salaries, and granting localities control over funding policy is a recipe for disaster for the health of regional economies (localities choosing to fund sports clubs will have enormously higher tax rates than those that choose not to). The Democrats vote no.
