Bill: The Lord's Address to the Royal Assembly, July 10th, 4190

Details

Submitted by[?]: Royal People's Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: March 4201

Description[?]:

Honorable Members of the Assembly,

The 05/4188 Religions Taxation Adjustment Act (RTAA) is unconstitutional under the Coburan Constitution of 4177. Article 8 guarantees the free exercise of beliefs to all Coburans. The ban restricting ministers and priests of religions from a salary is a blatant violation of this protection provided by the Constitution. If the Religious Taxation Adjustment Act is not repealed at the beginning of the 4191 Legislative Session, I will be forced to pardon anyone convicted of taking a salary as a minister of religion under Article 20.

His Exalted Majesty, Lord of the Five Lands of Cobura, Kharakhte II

(OOC: Under the provisions of Article 16: The Lord can address messages to the Nation and to the Royal Assembly. The messages may not be made the object of any debate in the Assembly. There will be no up or down vote.)

MessageNote: the RTAA abolished the remuneration for ministers of religion because the title of Minister as profession may only be used by the government. There has also never been an abolishment of salary for priests, Priests are not even mentioned in the RTAA, and their profession remains a legal and recognised profession. The Lord is lying and should check the facts again.

MessageIf the Lord chooses to pardon those who used the title of Minister, they will be arrested for pretending to be government officials, which is illegal. The Lord knows we have the law on our side and what we do is pure legal, and we Ensure the free exercise of religion, but without using government titles and names. That seems perfectly logical to me.
