Bill: Trade Union Strike Action Bill 4191
Details
Submitted by[?]: Patriotic Party of Baltusia
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: July 4192
Description[?]:
Members of Congress, Unofficial strike action can paralyse companies if left unchecked. We believe there should be some middle ground between the current law regarding industrial action, i.e. the employer must seek government permission, and the reality of each situation. I stress: we are not opposed to legitimate, protected or official strike action, which is voted for by trade unions based on pay and conditions etc; however, the current situation is open to exploitation. Message | It is a totally betrayal of the left wing for the BDGP to support this bill. It's shows what we all know: they are the party of business and we are the party of people. Kathleen Wiley Minority Speaker of the House |

Message | Members of Congress, We thank opposition parties for raising their concerns but would like to reinforce the following point - this bill in no way attempts to undermine official, voted-for or protected strikes, such as trade union strikes over pay and conditions. This is an attempt to stop petty disputes getting out of hand. For instance, if a group of disgruntled workers decide they do not like the biscuits the company is giving them during a tea break they could go on strike over it. A company would then have to go through the laborious process of contacting the national government and waiting for permission to have them deem the strike illegal and disproportionate. So we need to have a middle ground, common sense policy that does not paralyse businesses but ensures workers all the rights they are entitled to when a legitimate strike is called. As for Minority Speaker Wiley's comments, may I ask is she now the 'champion' of the Left? The person who wants to ban communism, imprison homosexuals, return us to full national military service and envelop the country in an ultra-nationalist agenda? Does she think this sudden change in direction will wash with other parties or the electorate? This is nothing more than a veiled attempt to get into power by any means. This country, and any parties who are thinking of backing her, will pay dearly if she ever does. Alexandra Flanders Majority Speaker of the House |

Message | I have never opposed leftism and find your personal attacks to be a complete distraction from the fact your party has sold its soul to big business! Kathleen Wiley Minority Speaker of the House |

Message | Members of Congress, Can Madame Wiley's assertion really be true? She attacks the BDGP, a centre left party, at every opportunity and leaves Congress in no doubt that she believes another long-standing left power - the RAC - should be wiped from existence. Maybe she is not opposed to leftism, or in particular her own brand of social nationalism, but she certainly opposes the existing parties on the Left. In reference to her attack on our principles, anyone who knows the Patriotic and the Republican Parties through their 150 year history also knows we have always stood up for business and a free market – just as we have promoted the interests of common, decent law abiding people. The Patriotic Republican Party continues in that vein and is proud to do so. Alexandra Flanders Majority Speaker of the House |
