Bill: A Request from Congress to Provide Aid to the Republican Coalition in Rutania

Description[?]:

"Upon my inauguration, I assured the people that I would try to keep us out of war. And trust me, I'm trying. There's a lot of push in Congress right now from people like Rylan Thomas. He's a warhawk, I'll admit, and he's not ashamed of it. But my colleague isn't an idiot. He can compromise. And I think the compromise I'm going to present is a good one.

I feel that the people of Beluzia want to get involved in the civil war in Rutania. They are brothers to some of us here, and the Republican Coalition is fighting for the very things we hold dear.

Freedom. Democracy. These aren't just buzz words, no! These are rally cries for every one of us freedom-loving Beluzians. We cannot ignore what is going on across our border!

I propose that we offer our friends in the Republican coalition military supplies. Vehicles. Missiles. Whatever they request. And I urge this Congress to also consider offering medical aid to anybody in need fighting against a monarchist regime within Rutania.

We owe it to them. We do! We are Beluzians, and we. Love. Freedom. And we're gonna bring it to Rutania, but it won't be with boots on the ground. No Beluzian needs to die.

I promise, if I could, I would go over there right now and end this conflict myself. I would walk into Rutania, walk right up to their capital, and demand that they fix things or we'll bomb 'em. But that simply won't do, will it? Would this Congress even approve of a military intervention? Would the people approve of us sending boys to fight and die for someone else's cause?

So I come to this Congress today to ask to be given permission to lend medical aid and provide military supplies to the parties fighting in the Republican Coalition.

We will bring freedom to Rutania, and not a single Beluzian has to die."

- Sylvester Palmer, President of Beluzia

Message"We agree with the president's idea, but if the royalist faction starts committing war crimes or threatens Beluzia for supporting the republican faction, we should mobilize our nations military. I agree with offering support, and would rather avoid full military intervention."

Message"I fully support President Palmer's stance on the situation of Rutania. Every country has the right to self-determination, and the situation in Rutania will not allow for that. I will personally monitor all operations in Rutania and create an international coalition to bring both factions to the negotiating table."

Message"If it was up to me, we would round up all the royalists and execute them. These royalists want to replace a thriving democracy with a hereditary monarchy. Any attack on a democratic nation should be met with swiftness and effectiveness. I urge President Palmer and Vice President Quintana to fully commit to a military intervention in favor of the republicans."

Message"Mr. Speaker, I believe President Palmer's administration is turning a blind eye to history. History shows us that intervening in this war will only help fuel the continual cycle of social unrest in Rutania. History shows us that the Rutania people will come to resent us. History shows us that the Rutanian people will eventually wage war on Beluzia. The Honorable gentleman (Eric Hamilton) used to be a wise and smart man, he even mentored me in my early political years. He has become nothing but a war-hawk that looks to serve the military-industrial complex. I say enough! Enough of interfering in other country's affairs! Those who do not learn from history, are bound to repeat it."

Message"I agree with congressmen Hamilton, and Thomas, we might need to intervene with troops if anything is truly going to change the tide of war in favor of the Republican faction, but Hamilton's idea of executing every royalist would be too extreme, unless they ordered their forces to commit war crimes. Military intervention may be the only way to fully help the Republicans."

Message"We are pacifists and oppose military intervention, but only support it when the situation is urgent and negotiations with the opposing force do not work and break down. The situation in Rutania fits the description above. We now see a group of no-nothing royalists wanting to implement an oppressive hereditary monarchy on a nation known for its democratic values. Monarchies are the worst type of government. They only have one person, family or body in control of the country and we the people are not allowed to make and implement laws. The monarchy is selfish and self-gratifying and it is not good for the people. Secondly, not all members in a line of succession are competent to run a country and whoever is next in line after the previous monarch dies or abdicates will be the next monarch regardless of whether they have the qualities of a head of state. A nation should not be run by handing it down to a person simply because he or she is born to it. We do not wish Rutania, one of our allies to become a reincarnation of the Unholy Davostag Empire, where there was a Satanist emperor in control. I am not suggesting that the royalists will implement a Satanist monarch, but think about what would happen if there is a crackdown on the republican faction if the Royalists win the civil war. The result would be catastrophic and dystopian. That is why we support military intervention in Rutania to liberate the people from the bourgeoisie and to give it back to the rightful hands of the proletariat."
