Bill: Constitutional Amendment Package of 4212

Details

Submitted by[?]: Al-Ittihad al-Ishtiraki ad-Dimuqrati

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: July 4213

Description[?]:

To fix the flag of the Federation, and to decrease the terms of Senators, Deputies and the Presidency. Due to the staggered nation of Senate elections, they currently serve 10-year terms -- which is too long. With the proposed changes, the President and members of the lower house serve 4-year terms, while Senators serve 8-year terms.

It is understandable that the government would want to maximize its time in power before facing the electorate -- and thus oppose these changes -- but we are certain they will show true leadership on this issue, and put country before party.
