Message | The LoO has typically decided to disregard the will of our parliament in regards to the creation of irrational and illogical bills. I find it highly ironic that a party which claims to support the limiting of state power would call for the legalisation of torture, government intrusion in people's private lives and the construction of hideous weapons of mass murder. |

Message | And also of course to arm the police with deadly weapons which will undoubtedly be used in order to oppress our people. |
Date | 01:59:22, February 14, 2006 CET | From | League of Objectivists! | To | Debating the Reform for Election 2186 |
Message | Oppress people that conceal their own deadly weapons? The police only go after criminals. Same with torture and habeas data. It is a disgusting practice, but sticking with 'never torture' and inviolable privacy as a rule ties our hands and allows enemies and criminals to exploit these gaping holes in our defenses. Ask yourself why torture is evil, and is it evil in every single case. Your rules have no context. |
Date | 02:31:27, February 14, 2006 CET | From | Libertarian Socialists of Endralon | To | Debating the Reform for Election 2186 |
Message | Torture in my view certainly is evil in every single case and giving the state the right to seize people's personal data constitures a severe infringement on civil liberties and creates far more problems than it solves. |
Date | 03:19:57, February 14, 2006 CET | From | League of Objectivists! | To | Debating the Reform for Election 2186 |
Message | In every instance but one is torture repugnant. "Confessions" of pressured criminals are invalid and could not count against the suspect in a court of law. However while torture for guilt is evil and wrong, torture of say terrorists for information vital to the safety of New Endralonians is important and could have disasterous consequences if it were banned for the sake of banning. Those who use their right to privacy in order to cheat and steal give up that right. This bill is for them alone. If you truly cared an ounce about civil liberties, you would see what a horrible practice it is to 'severly infringe' upon the people's rights to own their own houses, or own their own businesses. |
Date | 03:37:28, February 14, 2006 CET | From | Libertarian Socialists of Endralon | To | Debating the Reform for Election 2186 |
Message | Most of the "evidence" gathered through torture in any circusmtances is incorrect but that is besides the point and the natural result of a state which is prepared to use physical violence against its citizens is tyranny. The LSE foes not want to infringe upon anyone's rights but I'm afraid that the "right" to exploit, oppress and steal from the working class is no right at all since it infringes to a far greater extent on the rights and freedoms of others. |

Message | This "bill" is a disgusting traversty, but the LOO won't take the II for fools, we cannot vote against article 1 ... thanks a lot. |
