Description[?]:
"If physical force is to be barred from social relationships, men need an institution charged with the task of protecting their rights under an objective code of rules. This is the task of a government - of a proper government - its basic task, its only moral justification and the reason why men do need a government. A government is the means of placing the retaliatory use of physical force under objective control - i.e., under objectively defined laws." --Ayn Rand The plight of the enslaved populace of New Endralon has been heard! As principled defenders of individual sovereignty and capitalism, the LOOs aim to free the people from their shackles of oppression and take this nation to new heights of life and prosperity! We aim to establish the tenets of individualism and capitalism in New Endralon, changing the government's role from ruler to one of protector of freedom. We also aim to dispel the myth that Capitalism in its purest form is a system of imperlialism and exploitation, when nothing could be further from the truth. True capitalism must be distinguished from the theory that human life is indistinguishable from a jungle struggle, that others are a man's natural prey, and that they exist solely for him to use and victimize. This is the code of the liar, the cheat, the criminal, of any man who seeks gain by duplicitous, dishonest and/or coercive means. The exploiter is not interested in working for what he wants; he doesn't seek to earn values, merely to get them. The true capitalist, on the other hand, recognizes that capitalism is a principle, that it applies universally, that all human beings must unobstructedly pursue their values and happiness - and that this same principle that protects him from others, protects others from him. Men must work hard and earn their values and their happiness, not seek them by victimizing innocent others. True Capitalists by their very oath fight to end the evil of human sacrifice - in all of its forms, regardless of who is the victim and who is the beneficiary. Every human being is an end in himself. True Capitalism eschews both altruism and hedonism, both the sacrifice of self to others (theocracy, socialism, fascism) and the sacrifice of others to self (anarchy). The League of Objectivists' stances on government issues are principled ones: Centralization: LoOs support federalism and devolution for powers best left to localities such as local civilian police forces and civil courts. Civil Rights: LoOs support a government who's function is to protect freedom, not truth and virtue. Civil Rights must not be restricted. Ecology: LoOs wish to protect citizens from harm to their body or property. If there is evidence of harm to human life then criminal laws must intervene. No laws shall restrict the land or animal use of private property. Foreign Relations: The LOOs support open border policies inviting all of the world to come, work honestly and earn their fortunes. Additionally the LOOs do not recognize foreign oppressive regimes as soverign nations and reserve the right to intervene on behalf of the victims. Global trade shall never be restricted. Government Responsibilities: The only proper role of government is the protection of individual freedom. This requires government monopoly on force and only to be used in retaliatory fashion, with authority over private coercive use. A military, and police force and a court system are the necessary functions of a proper government. All other government undertakings require coercion of some form and are immoral. Market: It is not the role of the government to rule over the economy of a nation except the protection of private property. As long as the use of force is avoided, the market is unregulated. Military: Military is necessary to protect from foreign invaders, but must remain voluntary, and civil rights are upheld. Similarily advanced weaponry development and stockpiling are necessary. Morality: The LoOs support a government that applies no hand to the morality of its citizenry unless the initiation of force is used. Religion: The LoOs, while eschewing religion in all of its forms, supports a government where citizens are free to practice any religion without persecution or taxation. Separation of church and state is important. |
