Bill: Bundespräsident: The Coalition Moulder

Details

Submitted by[?]: Vereinigte Bewegung der Regionen

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: April 4230

Description[?]:

Mrs President,

It is very hard, if not, impossible to form a cabinet. The VBR want contribute to the discussion in which way the problem might be solved. We believe that the Bundespräsident should get a more senior and official position to make this possible. As being impartial and elected by the People he/she is just the right official to form a coalition and Government.

MessagePresident,

Our power-sharing executive still may pass. We encourage the greens to vote for it. Let's wait until that passes or fails before we get to these kinds of measures. At the point that the executive fails, we would turn to this.

MessagePresident,

We do not agree with this as it limits democracy. This only narrows the streets of possible cabinets we could go down. As a party which has created many cabinets without this position, we know from experience that sometimes other parties have better, more stable, more realisitc cabinet proposals.

MessageMrs President,

Surely, the Hon.Colleague mrs Kruspe agrees that the current deadlock should be ended. Difficult times means that there are no easy ways out. The proposed measure might be temporarely till the days that forming a stable majority coalition is common again.

MessagePresident,

We actually think that the largest party should be the one starting to form a cabinet.
If the people chose one party to become the largest. Why not give them the right to create coalitions?

Secretary General of the SDA

MessageMrs President,

Why does the SDA believe that their suggestion is a better option than having the elected impartial Bundespräsident forming a coalition ? Evenmore, the Bundespräsident will have a more prominent duty than just cutting ribbons,

MessagePresident,

We slam down this anti-democratic bill which will only make the already difficult process of coalition building even more hectic and near on impossible!

Random fact: By default the head of government is the ultimate authority within a national government. In general terms, heads of government are expected to consult with cabinet colleagues (including those from other parties) before making significant decisions but they remain responsible for government action.
