Bill: School Choice Act.

Details

Submitted by[?]: Mordusia First!

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: October 4290

Description[?]:

This bill will improve the education system dramatically and everyone will have access to quality education across Mordusia.

Article 1 ensures that our nation’s youth are actually receiving an education rather than playing video games at home. Employers need to know that whoever they’re going to employ have actually been educated by qualified people.

Article 2 reduces the compulsory age of schooling to 16 (roughly Grade 10) providing that they have an apprenticeship or a paying job. This will allow various young people to have the ability to go out and get apprenticeships and learn practical skills that they will need to advance their careers. We are currently having a skills shortage amongst the blue-collar industries. If we want a successful economy, apprenticeships will improve that and allow the current rapidly growing middle class to grow even more.

Article 3 allows parents to choose the schools best for their children rather than having to force their child to go to a school base don district. Using the school voucher system, every school will be privatised and schools will compete to attract parents to send their children to their schools. The vouchers will cover 90% of the costs which will allow every child to have access to a quality education. The competition between schools will allow results and the quality of education to improve thus allowing a better education system than the current one.

MessageWhy are you so obsessed with handing over tax payers money to private companies and CEO's? Why are you not supporting civil service and talking about issues that really matter to our communities?

MessageWe are not handing over money to private companies and CEOs and our communities are unhappy with the current education system. We are working with communities to form policies that will benefit them, their wishes and our future. Need I remind you that Sammodra has one of the world’s highest unemployment rates, and looking at recent electoral results- they have turned to the Tea Party for hope and success.

MessageAnd how is privatisation going to fix unemployment? You do know that profit needs to be made, unless you are willing to spend more money per pupil than we do now in order to make it profitable for private interests?

Also the voucher system WILL hand over money to the private sector as the private school company is then able to claim money for the child from the state. Why don't you accept that it is right to have a public school system as well? Its far more cost efficient and can be much more easily reformed to improve results.

MessageThe Rationalist Party strongly denounces this bill, it hurts underprivileged children by removing them the guarantee of an available schooling enviornment. This is simply going to cause more discrimination against the poor, especially with no provision requiring that these private schools do not discriminate by economic standing. Not only that, less compulsory schooling leads to a less educated populace. An uneducated populace cannot be expected to understand what they are voting for!

MessagePeople of the Congress,

As the MSP brought up, many private organisations want profit to be made. Now under the private school choice system, schools must compete against each other to attract parents; because they mean money. But the thing is, the parents are concerned about the future of their children so they look for the schools with the best educational standards. This means that if the schools don't invest into their educational programs and teaching resources, they don't get their money. Effectively this competition continuously raises standards in every school because profit is an incentive to raise standards, much like businesses do. Now does that explain your question, Mr. Honnor?

MessageProfit doesn't improve the schools accessibility or standards. Where on earth id your evidence, once again Mr Wilkinson? Your party is obsessed with money and protecting those with it, whilst asking everyone else to foot the bill. Do you understand that children in selective, private education are actually negatively impacted?

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/education/education-news/selective-grammar-schooling-negative-impact-uk-children-pisa-oecd-global-experts-anxiety-bullying-a7691481.html

Furthermore, there is no evidence to suggest a state school system is ineffective - https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/answer-sheet/wp/2013/11/05/are-private-schools-better-than-public-schools-new-book-says-no/?utm_term=.fb197aa46897.

So again, I have to ask these questions. Why are the Tea Party so hell bent on destroying the state and lowering life chance for our children? They may think they are doing the right thing, but has evidence shows, they are not.

MessageMr. Honnor,

Our public school system is failing horribly and a switch to the school choice system will improve our education standards: http://www.theaustralian.com.au/opinion/heres-why-nongovernment-schools-work-better/news-story/2bb048b548d706d1ba6e2fb2291cc714

The fact is that some public schools are decent but that is only because they receive much more funding than every other school. We cannot fund he current school system to “improve resources and improve teacher training programs” like you say because YOU are the ones that have put our nation into debt, YOU are the ones that have raised taxes for everyone, so that they cannot afford anything and YOU have run our nation into the ground. Our once prosperous economy is now crumbling, our people are slowly getting poorer and our nation is no longer great.

The people have turned to the Tea Party for freedom and rejoice that occured during the past 20 years and we will continue fighting for the people. I will put this bill to a vote for the sake of our nation on behalf of my Ministry. My message to every party; voting against this bill will be the downfall of your parties, the voters will decide on who will truly improve our country through their ballots.

MessageThe economy is growing and is larger thanks to the government investing in education. We are not in debt but we do have a small deficit. We have had years of surpluses, time you understood the concept of debt and deficit being different. We intend on raising more money in the future to expand spending and improve our comprehensive state schooling.

One final point congress, we increased taxes on those earning the most. Most lower income citizens have seen their income taxation fall or they don't pay income tax at all. If you earn less than 30,000 MRD you was taken out of tax under our taxation plans.

Your attacks are fundamentally incorrect and show the true face of your disdain for our people.

Random quote: "The European Union and environmental advocacy groups use global warming hysteria to advance their own special agendas. The European Union recognizes any significant reduction in CO2 emissions by the United States will significantly reduce its economic output, thereby bringing it closer to the inferior output of European nations. Environmental advocacy groups work to stifle economic and industrial progress wherever they find it to inhibit the successful advancement of peoples in developing nations, inevitably making mankind a second class citizen of planet Earth." - Dr. Jay Lehr
