Message | We shall leave this for discussion. We propose refocusing government spending towards Health and Social Services, and Education and Culture. Defence takes a large cut following the defence cuts enacted in the previous government with the cutting of the Nuclear, Biological and Chemical weapon programmes. |

Message | We do not have many problems with this budget. However, we wonder why Environment has been cut. |

Message | The KHU considered the focus should be on the appallingly underfunded health service and state education areas. |

Message | While we are not vehemently opposed to increases in health and education spending we question the size of the increase proposed in this budget, particularly when our parties are legislating to reintroduce private industry to these sectors which should alleviate budget pressures rather than increase them. That this proposal benefits education at the same time as slashing science and tech spending by a third also makes little sense. If you intend to invest in the education of our citizens you should surely invest in the high-tech industries that will need to support them post-graduation. |

Message | We will support this budget because of the Health and Social Security investments. But please note that we are not pleased with the Enivironment budget cut. |

Message | DPD, this budget represents a 0.4% increase and still leaves us with a budget surplus. I am also surprised at your support for state funding of science given the focus of the DPD on reducing the role of the state on economic matters, surely we should be cnouraging the private sector to invest in high tech development? I honestly can't understand SED I understand your concerns. The KHU took the view for this budget that the massive underfunding for Health and Education was the primary concern that needed to be addressed. especially given the virutal state domination of health care provision the total lack of funding can't be good for patient care. Likewise how a free education system could be funded between the ages of 0-21 is beyond me. |

Random fact: It usually takes up to an hour for election results to generate. During this time, the "Next Election" date is put forward a month, which is confusing. Do not worry! In a short time, the election result will generate and the "Next Election" date will then correct itself. |
