Details

Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This bill proposes to change income taxes. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: January 4309
Description[?]:
Seridjan Democratische Unie propose to adjust the government's income tax policy to better address the economic situation of the Republiek van Seridjan (Republic of Saridan). ------------------------------------- Tax Reform for Hard Working Families These tax proposals I put before the Volksraad today will for the first time allow all citizens in Saridan to pay no income tax on the first 10,000 SAD of their earnings, raising the threshold by 7,000 SAD and providing welcome assistance for hardworking families across the nation. This will mean that those working in low paid jobs will pay no income tax at all, enabling them to keep more of their money & encourage employment by making such jobs more financially attractive. In order to pay for this tax cut for the lowest paid, higher earners have been asked to pay more in income tax. However the bands have been structured in order that each brings in a similar amount of revenue to the Treasury so as not to place a burden on one particular section of society. In total an extra 44 billion SAD will be generated by these reforms. We plan to use 21 billion SAD of this increase to abolish the sales tax on food and non luxury items. The abolition of this tax will provide a further income boost for our nation's low paid and hard working families, as well as support our commercial, retail and agricultural sectors. I commend these reforms to the Volksraad. Marcus Jansen Treasurer of Saridan |

Message | We are not going to support a raise in taxes, which will be complicated for the taxpayer and highly expensive for working class families. Douglas Newton Former Treasurer of Sadrian |

Message | More propaganda from One Nation. Currently everyone in Saridan has to pay 10% income tax on all earnings over 3000 SAD & pay 3% on all food and non luxury goods purchases. Under our proposals everyone earning under 20,000 SAD will experience a tax cut. The poorest will receive the biggest tax cut of all, paying 0% income tax on all earnings below 10,000 SAD and paying 0% sales tax on food. Many middle class earners will also be better off financially thanks to the abolition of the sales tax. One Nation left Saridan with a large debt & high unemployment, don't let their legacy continue.
