Description[?]:
We aim to reform our education system in order to expand opportunities and end the in-debting of future generations. ARTICLE 1 - Will cost the government around 12bn MRD in order to cover the cost of student loans. We believe this will encourage students to focus more on learning than worrying about debt. It also helps drive consumer demand amongst our middle class as they will not have to find money to educate their children. We believe free education is an investment in the future which benefits all. ARTICLE 2 - Private sector pre-school is subject to market fluctuations which is causing the government to spend more money than is required. We aim to use the savings of phasing out the market to deliver state pre-schools for everyone to use. Currently the government is spending around 10bn MRD on subsidising the private sector and we have identified that removing the profit motive from our children's education can save us 50% of the current budget (5bn MRD). The savings will be put directly into building new pre-schools. ARTICLE 3 - Similar to Article 2, we are removing the state subsidies in order to save the state money to deliver a better education for the majority of students. Currently it is estimated Local Government is spending 3bn MRD across the country to prop up failing private schools, when we have better performing state schools in those area's. This bill will not stop local government from continuing but will stop government funds funding these wasteful practices. ARTICLE 4 - Sex education is very important to a humans development as it helps reduce the spread of STD/STI's and removes the stress that many teenagers experience when their body is making big changes. We have included the option for student to opt-out on religious grounds etc. ARTICLE 5 - The National Curriculum will enforce the basics of education. It will include; Mathematics, Science, Languages (native and one foreign), Information Technology, Design Technology and a minimum of one work based subject. |
