Bill: Abolition of Landmines Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Liberal Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: November 4314

Description[?]:

Landmines do not win wars, but can kill civilians decades after hostilities have ended.

We believe that a modern effective fighting force such as the Malivian Army should not need to resort to such desperate tactics in defence of our country. Landmines are dangerous and should be banned.

Adam Kumar
Liberal Party Defence spokesman.

MessageOnce more, the Liberal party tries to pass a law to weaken our nation's military. We shouldn't weaken our chance of victory in Malivia by one inch, as that is what makes the difference in combat. The Liberal Party is trying to cripple this country from the inside, weakening our government and military, and, I, for one, will not stand for it.

MessageMr Speaker

The gentleman from the Greater Malivia Party speaks of his concern about crippling our country, and yet apparently favours sowing the country with landmines to cripple our children!

We have millions of fighting men, an air force and a navy at our disposal: we do not need the capacity to resort to the underhand tactic of turning the country into a giant booby trap!

Adam Kumar
Liberal Party Defence spokesman.

MessageMr Speaker,

I think we should vow for a compromise. I do not want to see landmines planted all around our nation. This shouldn't be reality for our citizens and especially our Children. However I do think we need to be able to use landmines. That is we leave this decision up to the Army, if they feel it is necessary, in order to defend our nation then we should use them. It's not black and white. It is situational.

Malivian Workers Commune Defence Secretary

Random fact: Particracy does not allow real-life brand names (eg. Coca Cola, McDonalds, Microsoft). However, in the case of military equipment brand names it is permitted to use simple number-letter combinations (eg. T-90 and F-22) borrowed from real life, and also simple generic names, like those of animals (eg. Leopard and Jaguar).

Random quote: "Global warming, at least the modern nightmare vision, is a myth. I am sure of it and so are a growing number of scientists. But what is really worrying is that the world's politicians and policy makers are not." - David Bellamy
